Living in Tirana: A Collection of Random Street Pictures

I had a spare moment to sit down and organise pictures, and thought I would share a random photo journal of life here in Tirana day to day.

In a world without addresses or google maps or smart phones, I really wish I could use “horse mural” as a landmark for where I live.

I never expected to be able to pick random mandarins and persimmons from the sidewalks all over town. Tirana is full of them in fall and early winter.

This is a hopping place on the weekends- the creepy, semi-broken down carnival on Rruga Durresit.

On the walk to Tiara’s house in the fall. This is in the middle of the city. There are also random chickens and turkeys for sale on the weekends, and they’ll slaughter them right there for you. This is why we knew the unfortunate fate of the rabbit.

Take a quick google search of what many Albanians think should be the rightful borders of their country, and you will get a better understanding of this street art commentary that might otherwise seem oddly aggressive and specific.
